Friends of Catton Park picnic - 14th July 2007
We
held our birthday picnic in the park on
Saturday14th July and fortunately, in this wet
summer, it was one day that stayed dry and warm.
About 25 people gathered and enjoyed the
sunshine, their sandwiches and food and drink
and the games that had been arranged.
We even learned what a ‘dwile’ is – a close
encounter with a wet dishcloth for those who
joined in that traditional Norfolk game.
The pictures include the traditional French
‘boules’ and the picnicers sitting out in the
sunshine, as others walk past. It was noticeable
how many people are now enjoying walking in the
park – this even before it has been officially
declared open.
Finally we rounded off with a birthday cake in
honour of the 500 year old oak tree (though we
were not actually located very close to that
particular tree!) – a lovely carrot cake.
Thanks to all who helped make this an enjoyable
occasion. |
