Early May saw the start of one of the largest tasks in the Park when local

contractors, May Gurney, started work on laying the main track.

This track follows the line of the original path from South Lodge as far as

Catton Hall at the north of the Park and turns east to the

Church Street entrance which will be opened in due course.

Whilst scraping off the surface of the Park to prepare the path, and knowing

that this was the line of the original path, much of the original track

foundation was unearthed.  This original foundation comprised of old

bricks and gravel.  This is being left in situ and will be covered with a new

surface comprising of recycled road planings and finished with fibredeck.

The original path was probably covered over time with general farming

and agricultural activity.
