Work begins to prepare Catton Park.

Having been awarded a grant by the Heritage Lottery Fund, the Catton Park Trust

has awarded it's first contract to prepare Catton Park as a public park.

Work has begun on the western edge of Catton Park along St Faith's Road,

Mile Cross Road and up Oak Lane to clear scrub and implement tree management

in accordance with the arboriculture report.  Some trees have already been

felled and others trimmed.

This particular phase is due to be completed by April 28th.

After that, the next phase is to put up fencing along St Faith's Road,

Mile Cross Road and Oak Lane.  This fencing should start to be erected as the

 woodland is cleared.

In addition, some volunteer work will be undertaken by the Norwich Fringe

Project and Easton College to do some tidying work such as clearing the pond

and tidying the paths in the western woodland.

After that, work begins to establish a path in the western woods that will be

suitable for wheel chairs, prams and bikes etc.

The Catton Park Trust has requested that public co-operation during these works

would be appreciated.  People are requested to stay away from taped-off areas

and to heed any instructions from contractors.

It is anticipated that the Park will be formally opened to the public in mid 2007.

If you have any questions, please contact the

Trust Secretary, Ken Leggett (01603 408823)
