On Tuesday 14th
December 2004, pupils from Old Catton
Church of
England Middle School viewed the proposed Catton Park to
enable them to
have a greater understanding of the area and to enable
them to design
a logo for the Friends of Catton Park.
Old Catton
Church of England Middle School has had close links with the Park
since 1870 when
Samuel Gurney Buxton, the ancestor of the present
landowner
Andrew Buxton, donated the land and most of the funds for
the original
school.
Paul Wright,
the Head-teacher, agreed to the Year 7 pupils with their
art teacher Mrs
Carol Turner doing an art lesson in the Park. Judith Cantrell,
landscape
architect at Norfolk County Council taught the children how to
measure and
date trees. Andrew Buxton gave a brief history of the Park.
Logo designs
will be judged by the Friends of Catton Park and will be used
by the Friends
in their campaign to gain funding and support for the Park.
